Michael E. Shelton November 1, 1950 – May 7, 2018

Mr. Michael E. Shelton, son of the Late Walter and Mary Helen Adam Shelton, was born November 1st, 1950 in Augusta, Georgia. He made the transition to his Eternal Home on Monday, May 7th, 2018. He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. The last ministry that he called “home” was Frazier United Methodist Church, in Montgomery, AL.

Mr. Shelton, affectionately known as “Mike”, moved to Montgomery in 1964 upon his father’s retirement. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict and was in the 1st Infantry Division (“The Big Red One”) at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He served his country from 1970 to 1972.

Mike attended Troy University at Maxwell Air Force Base and then continued his education at Auburn University, Montgomery in 1974. There he achieved his Master License in Gas, Pipe and Engineering. He also obtained an associate’s degree in Microsoft Engineering Systems Degree and was A+ certified, but did not pursue that profession. Instead, Mr. Shelton went to John Patterson Technical College and completed his degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. He was in business from 1975 to 2012 with his business partner and dear friend, Mr. Robert E. Lee.

He leaves to cherish his memories his close friends, devoted neighbors and a customer base that he sold not only heating and air conditioning units, but love.

Mr. Shelton was a true servant with a heart for the people. He loved the business he was in and appreciated the confidence and trust from all of his customers. He was passionate and proud to serve!

I’m so sorry to learn of Mike’s passing. A year ago, January, I stayed at Mike and Stormy’s Air B&B. My brother was ill and passed away while I was there. Mike was kind and shared the house key so I could come and go as I needed. I learned of his illness and that he didn’t expect to beat the odds.. what a tragedy. I thought the City of Montgomery (my long ago home town) should have hired him to be Mr Hospitality .. I just Googled his name hoping not to find this Obituary .. It’s been a while, but my condolences to his family,, peace be with you,

I knew Mike Shelton from Frazer Church. He was a member of Anchor Sunday School class and attended several of the socials and events that the class had. When I saw him, he would always speak to me and ask how I was doing. I thought he was a friendly caring person. Really hard to believe that he is gone, but he is in a much better place now. We are going to miss him and send deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
