She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Oscar and Rosa Pinkston, her daughter, Erria Chambers, her husband, Henry (Speak Easy), her sister, Mary Gardner, and her grandson Philip Clark.
Mrs. Hollis was a faithful member of Murdock Chapel A.M.E Church in Pike Road, Alabama. She retired from more than 40 years of teaching in public schools, in Alabama, Georgia, and Illinois.
She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Kenneth Allen Sr. (Margaret); sister, Gladys Taylor; grandchildren, Jameelah Louis (Spenceur), Kenneth Allen Jr. (Rachel), and Kennita Allen; great grandchildren, Taylar, KJ, and Gavin Allen, and Ny’Lah and Ava Grace Louis; nephews, Richard Bowden (Francis) and Bruce Gardner (Benita);niece Brenda Gardner; a host of other loving relatives and devoted friends.
Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and funeral services will be held on Friday January 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
