

Ollie Jean (née Story) Fowler — a beautiful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend — was born on September 12, 1952, in Munford, Alabama, the cherished daughter of George and Corine Story. On August 21, 2025, she peacefully departed this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Ollie accepted Christ at an early age in her hometown of Munford, where she was nurtured by her faith, family, and community. She was educated in the Munford School District before answering the call to serve her country in the United States Air Force. It was during her service that she met and married the love of her life, James Terry Fowler.
To this union, one daughter was born, Monica DeShone. Ollie’s life was filled with purpose, devotion, and an unwavering love for her family. She was known for her sweet spirit, her caring nature, and the way she made everyone feel valued and embraced. Her home was always a place of warmth, kindness, and joy.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, James; her children, Monica (Justen) DeBowles of Lithonia, Georgia, and Terry Tywon (Chrissie) Fowler of Vero Beach, Florida; and her precious grandchildren, Christian and Chloe DeBowles, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Ollie also leaves behind her siblings: brothers Rickey (Angelina) Story of Los Angeles, California; Randy (Audrey) Story of Lorton, Virginia; and George Storey of Georgetown, Texas; and sisters Emma (Rev. Lenard) Jacobs of Munford, Alabama; Wynetta (Willie) Miller of Prattville, Alabama; and Jessie Edison of Oxford, Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Corine Story; and two sisters, Janice Mosely and Debra Archie.
Her memory will also be treasured by her brothers-in-law Johnnie (Gloria) Fowler of Gulfport, Mississippi; Eddie (Merle) Fowler of McDonough, Georgia; Sam (Beatrice) Fowler of Jonesboro, Georgia; Wilson (Lenda) Fowler of Houston, Texas; Curby (Lois) Fowler of Hampton, Georgia; and Patrick (Kenyetta) Fowler of Stockbridge, Georgia; along with her sisters-in-law Frances Rice of Loganville, Georgia; Patricia Fowler of Gulfport, Mississippi; and Darlene Fowler of Stone Mountain, Georgia.
In addition, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, her beloved church family, extended military family, and countless friends and loved ones whose lives were forever touched by her generosity, faith, and unconditional love.
Ollie Jean Fowler will always be remembered as a woman of strength, grace, and compassion — a guiding light whose love shaped her family and inspired everyone blessed to know her. Her legacy of faith, service, and care will live on for generations.
