Our hearts ache as we share the news of the passing of our beloved Patricia J. Nichols, at the age of 82. Though she resided in Montgomery, Alabama, her spirit will forever remain rooted in the cherished memories of her time in Bay Minette, Alabama. She peacefully departed this world on Friday, May 2, 2025.
She now joins her beloved husband, Max Allison Nichols Sr., in eternal rest, their love story a beautiful chapter in our family's heart. Patricia's legacy of lives on through her children: Teresa Leigh Nichols, Max A. Nichols Jr. (Barbara), and Stefan Kyle Nichols (Misti). Her legacy multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren: Victoria Hudson (Clarence), Ian Kyle Nichols, and Noah Davenport Nichols and then the arrival of her great-grandson, little Colten Lee Hudson. Not forgetting her furry grand-dogs, Beaux Nichols and Bella Grace Nichols, who brought her so much comfort and smiles.
For much of her life, Patricia embraced the adventure of travel, a passion ignited by her time as a devoted Air Force wife. Together with Max, she explored the world, with Germany holding a particularly special place in her heart, a testament to their shared experiences and love. Her world was also filled with the magic of stories, her impressive book collection a cherished reflection of her inquisitive mind. She found such joy in sharing these literary treasures, always offering a book with a twinkle in her eye, hoping to pass on the same delight she found within their pages. While romance novels held a special fondness, her heart truly belonged to the rugged tales of the West, especially those penned by her favorite author, William W. Johnstone.
In 1983, Patricia embarked on a new chapter, opening her first barbershop, Vaughn Plaza Barber & Style, in Montgomery, AL. This marked the beginning of a long and fulfilling career where she touched the lives of so many. Later, she poured her heart and soul into owning "Jourdan's" Barber Shop, a welcoming haven in the RSA Tower in downtown Montgomery, from 1996 until her well-deserved retirement in 2018.
Patricia was a woman who embraced life with a truly vibrant spirit. Her presence filled every room, her boisterous laughter and captivating stories charming all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Through her adventures across the globe and the countless connections she made during her years as a barber, she touched so many lives with her kindness and warmth. The void left by her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her, and she will be dearly, eternally missed.
