

Paul served the Air Force from October 09, 1970 to May 31, 1993 as a Training Technician for 8 years, Technical Instructor & Training Systems Technician for 10 years 5 months and Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist 4 years 2 months.
He served from August 2, 1990 thru April 19, 1993 in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm.
He received Meritorious Service Medal with six oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with four oak leaf clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with one oak leaf cluster, Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with oak leaf clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Organization Excellence Award with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Good Conduct Awards.
Married with Lee Anne McGrath on June 1, 1990 in San Antonio, Texas and lived there until October 1991. And then, he transferred to Gunter AFB, Montgomery, Alabama in October 1991.
After Paul retired he worked at the Magnolia Golf Club from March 1997 through 2000, and at Hyundai Dealership as a mechanic from 2003 through 2016 and he was the only platinum certified mechanic.
Paul enjoyed fixing cars, working on any electronics, computers and building models. Basically, he was all around tinkering.
He had a broad interest in so many different genres. Not to mention his taste in music. He really loved bands like Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, The Bee Gees, Michael Jackson, Bread, and especially Billy Joel.
He was also into science fiction, especially Star Trek but also really enjoyed Westerns and 80s action movies.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Edward McGrath; mother, Ruby McGrath; as well as his brother, Joel McGrath. He is survived by his loving wife, Lee Anne McGrath; children, Melanie Winder (William) and Kyle McGrath (Stephanie); grandchildren, Joshua Winder, Benjamin Winder and Kayla McGrath; as well as siblings, Patrick, Mark, Timothy, Theresa and Mary Christine.
Visitation will be held at Thorington Road Baptist Church , 450 Ray Thorington Rd, Montgomery, AL 36117, US, on June 2, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am.
