JAMES, Princella Crosby. On April 12, 2012, almighty God in his infinite wisdom, mercy, and grace, has seen fit to call from among us, one who was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, a true friend, and quiet and dedicated Christian, Princella Crosby-James. “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven. A time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance.” Ecclesiastes 3: 1-4 “A Time to Be Born” Born to the late Zeke and Sallie Crosby on June 22, 1935, she was the 4th of 16 children. With her loving and kind disposition, her presence was a delight – to know her was to love her. “A Time to Plant” Her roots began in Elmore, Alabama, planting seeds in Christ as a child with Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and later with Lighthouse Baptist Church where she served on several committees and the Executive Board. Princella was crowned Homecoming Queen at Sandtown High School, where she remained an active alumni member. “A Time to Love” Princella was married to Clinton D. James, and they were blessed with 3 beautiful children, Angela, Travis, and Bertrand. “A Time to Work” Talented and hard-working, she began her career working in the Montgomery Public School Lunchroom, Alabama State University, First Alabama Bank Cafeteria (Regions). Princella took her skills and became a very successful businesswoman, owning and operating James-Belair Restaurant, James Catering Service, James Janitorial Service, and James Snack Bar. “A Time to Mourn” Princella mourned the death of her parents, Zeke and Sallie Crosby, Zeke Carlton Crosby, Eve Mae Thomas, Gerald Olandis Crosby, and Willodean Crosby-Simpson. “A Time to Die” Princella lives in the hearts of her children, Angela James-Johnson, Travis (Judy) James, and Bertrand (Rita) James; 8 grandchildren, T. Monique (Anthony) Thomas, Wakima Murphy, Dallas T. James, Christopher (Chancey) Waites, Sr., Bertrand F. James, Jr., Nicholas R. James, Brittany T. James, and Tridell D. James; 9 great-grandchildren, Asia Bowman, Jakereia Brown, Nia Thomas, Anthony Thomas, Jr., Trez Crawford, Christopher J. Waites, Jr., Lauryn C. Waits, Princess Brisker Perrez, Camden F. James; and a host of sisters and brothers, Sadie Crosby-Haywood, Cora Crosby-Francis, Henry (Margie) Crosby, Doris (Hercules) Roberts, Kathy (Murphy) Bonner, Joe B. (Callie) Crosby, James (Julliett) Crosby, Walter (Lula) Crosby, Mamie Crosby-Long, Patricia (Ray) Long, and Andrew (Carolyn) Reeves; sisters-in-law, Ernestine (Theodore) Jackson, and Clarice Crosby; uncle, Isom Thomas, special cousins, Lois (Michael) Waters, Margret Williams, Diane Fann, Willie (Dorothy) Thomas, special friends, Susie Rollins, Bertha Glenn, Gale Wheeler, Mildred (Eugene) Davis, Clarence & Maxine Formar, Doris McCall, Sandy Miles, extended family, Andrew (Carolyn) Reeves, Rhonda (Leslie) Austin, Cedric Duncan, the Rawles Family, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 11 AM, at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Walter Crosby, Sr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 AM and burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. “Mama lived by the spirit. May her legacy live on both in her family and in the lives she touched.
