Randy was born on March 18, 1966, in Montgomery, Alabama to Webb and Dorothy Blake. He attended Sidney Lanier High School where he played several instruments in the band and photographed sports and events for the school yearbook. Following high school, Randy attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery and went on to earn his law degree from the University of Alabama, but his loyalty never strayed from his Auburn Tigers.
Service stood at the heart of Randy’s life and was one of his greatest passions. He dedicated countless hours giving to others by chaperoning children and youth ministries’ events at church, serving on multiple church committees, including the Grounds Committee and the Board of Trustees, and traveling near and far on mission trips. He also loved volunteering at Trinity Presbyterian School by helping with the chains at his son Chip’s football games, helping ignite his daughter Bailey’s fire batons for the football pregame shows, and helping his son Matthew with his track meets and writing skills.
Randy found great joy in spending time with his family. He loved captaining his boat, traveling together on road trips—ranging from Niagara Falls to Disney World to the national parks of Utah—attending Auburn sporting events, and enjoying evenings at home watching The Andy Griffith Show with his yellow lab, Hallie, by his side. He also had a remarkable knack for tackling projects of all kinds, especially when it gave him an excuse to work with his hands or try out a new tool.
Randy is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kym; his son, Chip (Carson); his daughter, Bailey; his son, Matthew; his brother, Tommy (Kim); his parents-in-law, Turner and Betty Rhodes; and many other loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Webb Thomas Blake and Dorothy Barnett Blake; and his brother-in-law, Larkin T. Rhodes IV.
A memorial service celebrating Randy’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Wesley Church, located at 608 E. Fairview Ave., Montgomery, AL 36106. Visitation with family and friends will take place prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Wesley Church in memory of Randy.
