Tom lived a life rooted in faith, family, friendship, and service. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend whose kindness, wisdom, and steady presence touched countless lives.
Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he built a respected career in the banking industry and most recently for the State of Alabama. Throughout his career, he became not only a successful professional but also a valued mentor to many. He generously shared his knowledge, encouragement, and experience with those who followed him, leaving a lasting impact on the people he had the privilege of guiding.
Above all, Tom treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Marisabel Burge; his son, Thomas Burge, and his wife, Heather Burge; and his cherished granddaughters, Mia Burge and Taylor Johnson, her husband, Ben, and great grandbaby, Emmett. He is also survived by his sisters, Regina Goree and Janet Woody, her husband Frank, and brother, Jimmy Burge, along with extended family and dear friends who will deeply miss him.
Tom found great joy in traveling around the world with Marisabel, playing golf, spending time with family, and sharing life’s moments with the people he loved. He had a deep and abiding faith and was a member of Century Church in Pike Road, Alabama. His faith was an important part of who he was and the way he lived his life.
Those who knew Tom will remember his warmth, generosity, wisdom, and genuine love for others. He had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, and his influence will continue through the family he loved, the friends he cherished, and the many lives he helped along the way.
Though he will be deeply missed, Tom leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and kindness. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Century Church in Pike Road, Alabama, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Tom’s life, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable man he was.
The family asks that donations be made to Century Church in Tom’s honor, in lieu of flowers. https://ppay.co/9K1NAM9M9Eo
