

Born in Montgomery and raised in Wetumpka, Ricky was a man deeply rooted in faith, family, friendship and community. He attended the University of Alabama before earning his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University Montgomery and later graduating from the Alabama Banking School. Ricky built a respected career in the banking industry, where his integrity, dependability, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on his clients and colleagues.
Ricky volunteered for many years as an Ambassador for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, where he thrived on being a community leader, helping to shape the future of the Montgomery business community. He was also an active member of the Good Morning Kiwanis Club of Montgomery. Ricky was a man of faith and previously served as a deacon at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, where he valued the opportunity to serve his church family.
Ricky was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather who would do anything for his “girls” - his high school sweetheart and wife of 45 years and two daughters. His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he treasured every moment with them. He loved attending their activities, celebrating their milestones, and being their biggest supporter. Ricky also enjoyed making memories by spending time at the lake, traveling with close friends and family, and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Jan Hollon; his daughters, Erin (Neal) Pettus and Carmen (Jake) Sullivan; his cherished grandchildren, Garrett Pettus, Hollon Pettus, Evelyn Sullivan, and Dawson Sullivan; his parents, Ernest and Evelyn Hollon; and his brother, Roger (Nancy) Hollon. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as Tanner Hollon, the family dog who held a special place in his heart.
Funeral services will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow.
Ricky’s love, guidance, and steady presence will forever remain in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered as a loving, hardworking, generous, and dependable man whose quiet strength and deep faith shaped the lives of those around him. His family finds comfort in knowing that his faith carried him home and the love he shared will continue to guide them in the years ahead.
