Roland Alyre LaPointe
November 4, 1926 – February 27, 2019
Mr. Roland LaPointe, formerly of Enterprise passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in Montgomery. A funeral was held Friday, March 1, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Montgomery, AL with Father J. Francis Sofie officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial was at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Father Zachary Greenwell officiating of St. John the Evangelist Church in Enterprise. Roland was born to parents, Louis and Martha LaPointe on Nov. 4, 1926 in Van Buren, ME. He served in the 457th Airborne Field Artillery Battalion, 11th Airborne Division in World War II and became an instructor pilot after the war. He was a flight instructor at Spence Field, Moultrie Georgia from 1951-1960, then at Ft. Rucker from 1960 until 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma LaPointe. Survivors include one sister, Geri Baker of Winter Haven, FL, three sons and daughters-in-law: David and Rita LaPointe of Ellicott City, MD, Louis LaPointe and Beth Rader of Goshen, AL, Jerome and Anne LaPointe of Montgomery, AL; seven grandsons: Christopher, Mark, Robert, Brandon, Jonathan, Michael and Thomas LaPointe; and three great grandchildren, Phillip, Lillian, and John Paul.
