Roy Edward Whatley

Roy was born in Alexander City, AL. on June 13, 1941 to Edward "Ted" Whatley and Agnes Whatley Thomas.

Mr. Whatley worked at Delta Airlines where he retired after 30 years of service. Upon retirement, he worked for DHL for 14 years and then NAPA for another 8 years. Roy was committed to hard work throughout all of his life.

Roy married his beloved wife, Lisa, on April 18, 1992. Roy and Lisa made their home in Hayneville, AL. where he continued his hard work ethic by nourishing their land and livestock. He always had his cherished German shepherds at his side. He actively took diligent care of the home he and Lisa created until the day of his passing.

Roy Whatley is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lisa Rogers Whatley; his mother-in-law, Myrtle Rogers (who resided with them for the last 10 years); daughters, Karen Whatley Milstead (Roger), and Carrie Whatley Malish; brothers, Terry Whatley (Brenda) and Ronnie Thomas; brothers-in-law, Wayne "W" Rogers and Chuck Rogers (Sandy); sister-in-law, Jayne Rogers Carr; grandchildren, Brandy Peacock Keovorang (Khampanh), Christoper Peacock (Tosh), Joshua Malish (Heather), and Casey Malish Perkins (Jeremy); numerous nieces and nephews including Jennifer Rogers Royster (Rick), Joshua Rogers, Caleb Rogers, Zachary Rogers (Nikki), Abigail Parabes, Tripp Carr, Bronx Welch, Gina Whatley Turner, Adam Whatley; 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; along with numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by father, Edward "Ted" Whatley; beloved step-mother, Dell Whatley; mother, Agnes Thomas; and father-in-law, Charles Rogers.

The Whatley family emphasizes how greatly Roy will be missed, but have comfort in knowing that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior.

A Visitation for Mr. Whatley will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 12:00pm; followed by a Celebration of Life Graveside Service at 1:00pm with Pastor Andy Hepburn as officiant. All services rendered will be at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama, 36117.

Pallbearers will be Roger Milstead, Joshua Malish, Steve Betterton, Tripp Carr, Bronx Welch, and Joshua Rogers.
