A celebration of life will be held at 4pm on Saturday, August 20th at the Ingram family home located off Taylor Road. Guests are invited to give a toast in honor of Kent's life. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make donations to the Lung Cancer Alliance in his honor.
Kent was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina in 1954. He was the son of Fred Right Ingram Jr and Fannie Belle Jackson Ingram. Being born into a military family, Kent's childhood was marked by living in many interesting places, including four years in Turkey. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama in 1972.
As an adult, Kent always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and he held a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime, including but not limited to: collection agent, house painter, event lighting director, sports memorabilia store owner, real estate agent, private detective, law office manager, and bar owner (not in that order). Kent always found creative and ambitious ways to strike out on his own and build things for himself. He was an extremely hard worker, and his top priority throughout his entire life was to provide for his family. He selflessly and tirelessly worked to support his wife, Angie, throughout her law school career, as well as to provide a well-rounded childhood for all three of his children, in which they could explore their curiosities and be exposed to many different experiences. Through his enduring support, he instilled values of hard work and independence in his children. He also maintained close bonds with his brother and sister throughout his life, generously giving his time and devotion.
Kent loved long conversations, and could be counted on to chat about things both serious and lighthearted. He was a supportive listener and cheerleader, acknowledging and celebrating people's accomplishments. He was always thoughtful about remembering holidays, birthdays, and other major milestones. He loved to give advice, and help people get through hardships with phrases like "it is what it is." He loved to make a deal, and everyone who knows him knows a story of a great negotiation that he made. He had a unique sense of humor, marked by sarcastic or surprising comments that always got a reaction out of people.
Kent had many skills that he put to use around the house regularly. He always had a project that he was working on, whether it was his own idea, or it came from his "honey-do list." He was very resourceful and could always figure out a solution to any problem or create a home for every new animal that joined the family, even fosters. He found great joy in dreaming up new ideas in order to build a beautiful home, and was always active and engaged in the upkeep of his home. In recent months, he could be found riding the tractor and working on the property.
Kent also had an interest in family ancestry. He collected photos and memorabilia from many of his family members, and he did countless hours of research to learn more about his family's stories. It was very important to him that these stories and memories be preserved and passed down to future generations. He wanted his children and grandchildren to be able to know their own histories and to take pride in where they came from.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Fred Right Ingram III.
Kent is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Angie Hubbard Ingram, his sister Cheryl Holland, and his beloved children and their partners - Kara Ingram & Stan Abramov, Russell Ingram & Allison Pariani, Sean & Amy Ingram and grandchildren Wright and Elizabeth Ann Ingram.
