

GRAY, Sandra Lee Hamby, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family and friends, at the age of 62 on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, in Atlanta, Georgia. A resident of Millbrook, Alabama, Sandi was born on June 29, 1948 in Alexander City, Alabama to Arnold and Etheleen Hamby. Sandi was guided by her deep Christian faith and devotion to her husband, children, siblings and friends. Her bright spirit and giving nature were an inspiration. After graduating from Dadeville High School in 1966, Sandi attended Jacksonville State University. She eventually became an office manger with Blount Construction Co., where she met her husband, Holmes. Sandi became a full time mother in 1992, dedicating her life to raising three adopted children. In recent years, she owned a small shop called Sandi’s Abundant Blessings. Sandi was an active member of Coosada Baptist Church and loved spending as much time as possible with her precious granddaughters, McKenna and Eleanor. Sandi is survived by her husband of 27 years, Holmes Gray III; her children, Brittney Gray Gove, Dustin Gray and Aja Gray; her stepchildren, Erik Gray and Tobi Gray Weldon; her grandchildren, Rigby Gray, Lucy Gray, McKenna Gray and Eleanor Gove; her siblings, Arlene Hamby Cook and Mike Hamby; and her nephews and nieces, Will Cook, Josh Hamby, Kayla Ann Kitchens and JEB Kitchens. Visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home., 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Coosada Baptist Church, 5687 Coosada Road, Coosada, AL, with Dr. Jim Graham officiating. Graveside services will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sandi’s name to Coosada Baptist Church.
