Jones, Sara M. passed away on the morning of September 11, 2021, at her home in Montgomery, AL. She was born in Montgomery and a graduate from Sidney Lanier High School.
Sara met and married Aaron B. Jones stationed at Maxwell AFB who proudly and faithfully served his country for 44 years with 22 years of active service in the Air Force and 22 years of Government Civil Service. Sara supported his career and was by his side for 58 years.
Sara is preceded in death by her husband Aaron B. Jones. Her parents Bonnie Bishop Burdell and John L. Burdell. Her brothers Carroll Burdell, James Burdell, Richard Burdell, J.L. Burdell and her sisters Cindy Alford, Elaine Golden, and Shirley Jones.
Sara is survived by her loving son Jeffrey Alan Jones (Montgomery, AL), Brother-in-Law Larry Alford (Montgomery, AL), Brother-in-Law Robert Golden (Coosada, AL), Sister-in-Law Linda Burdell (Theodore, AL), Brother-in-law Ralph Jones (Four Oaks, NC), Elgie Jones Temple (Four Oaks, NC), numerous nephews, nieces, and their children.
Sara was a devoted Christian and a proud member of the University Church of Christ in Montgomery, AL. She lived her life for God and family. She loved to cook, especially for family gatherings. She loved to put smiles on family faces with good food and fellowship at the lake where she also learned to enjoy fishing.
During her working years she was a personal shopper at a local retail clothing store where she developed quite a following of clients. She had good eye for clothing, style, and color.
Funeral services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel this Saturday, September 18th at 10:00 am with Randy Medlin officiating. The family will receive friends this Friday, September 17th from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
Active Pallbearers will be Lee Alford (Montgomery, AL), Keith Golden (Montgomery, AL), Blake Burdell (Montgomery, AL), Wesley Alford (Taft, TN), Braxton Alford (Montgomery, AL) , Braden Alford (Montgomery, AL), Parker Groves (Deatsville, AL), and John Andrew Groves (Deatsville, AL).
Honorary Pallbearers will be Eli Alford (Taft, TN), Daniel Alford (Taft, TN), Ethen Alford (Harvest, AL ), and Luke Alford (Harvest, AL).
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the University Church of Christ at ucoc.org or The American Lung Association at lung.org.
