Sharon Anita McGee

McGEE, SHARON ANITA, peacefully went into the arms of Jesus on April 30, 2014after a three year battle with appendix cancer. Sharon was born on July 29, 1963 in Montgomery, AL. She graduated from Lanier High School in 1981. She knew from an early age that she wanted to help people. Therefore, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Masters of Science degree in Psychology from Auburn University Montgomery. To achieve her goal of helping people, she obtained her Licensed Professional Therapist certification, and she owned her own practice, Therapeutic Options, as a therapist/counselor. Sharon lived her life glorifying God and serving others. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Montgomery. She taught Preschool Sunday School for over 25 years. She went on numerous mission trips, and she volunteered her time counseling FBC youth in crisis situations.Sharon leaves to cherish her memory her loving parents Malcolm and Levonne McGee who stood by her side as she battled cancer. She also leaves behind her two brothers Cletus (Linda) McGee and Gary McGee, her nieces Kristen (Thomas) Stabler and Lauren Grace McGee and her nephews Stephen McGee and Braden McGee. She also leaves behind one grand-nephew Cameron Stabler and one grand-niece Ava Stabler. She leaves behind "her" twins Kaiden and Jameson Byrom and also her lifelong best friend Jenny Wingard. In addition, she leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who all love her dearly. Visitation was held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church Montgomery at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Jay Wolf officiating. Burial followed in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers she requested donations be made to one of her favorite charities: Cancer Center Snack Ministry, FBC Children's Hope for Haiti, Medical Outreach Ministries, or the Montgomery Humane Society.The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice of Montgomery for their love and support during this time.

Sharon has been our angel on earth for over 14 years. My daughter and I went through a dark time, and she was there every step of the way, offering support, counseling, wisdom and love. She will always be in our hearts. Much love, we miss you Sharon! <3 <3 <3
