

Tom was born on December 1st, 1964, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Betty Cooper Pinkston and Thomas Barnett Pinkston, Jr.
A gifted athlete from an early age, Tom demonstrated his determination and talent when he earned a position as a walk-on player and became a proud Auburn Tiger and graduate of Auburn University. He formed valued and lifelong friendships with Rick Williams, Scott Bolton, Chip Powell, and countless others during this time.
Tom carried his passion for athletics into a long meaningful career as a coach, teacher, and mentor. He devoted his life to guiding young men and women, teaching not only the fundamentals of sports, but also the values of discipline, integrity, perseverance, and character. Through his genuine love for people and his dedication to mentoring others, Tom touched countless lives and led by example both on and off the field.
Tom lived his faith in Jesus Christ by example and shared the promise of salvation at every opportunity he could. His steadfast faith, compassionate heart, and servant spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Tom is survived by his wife, Angela Lucci Pinkston, the love of his life and devoted partner, who stood faithfully by his side and truly exemplified the meaning of “through sickness and in health.” He is also survived by his beloved son, Thomas “Cole” Colton Pinkston (Emily); stepchildren; Aaron Bennett (Kelli), Mary Beth Skinner (Aaron), grandson; Coleman Barnett Pinkston; step grandchildren; Lilly Bennett, Raylan Bennett, Grayson Skinner, his parents; Betty Cooper Pinkston and Thomas Barnett Pinkston, Jr., mother-in-law, Nancy Lucci, sisters; Mary Bonham (John) and Rebecca Watson (Steve), as well as cherished nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.
Tom will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, generous spirit, unwavering faith, and lifelong commitment to those he coached, mentored, and loved.
Pallbearers will be Cole Pinkston, Aaron Bennett, Aaron Skinner, Chance Perry, Grant Watson, Scott Bolton, Rick Williams, and Chip Powell
Visitation is Thursday, May 21th, 2026, from 5pm until 8pm at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home and services will be held Friday, May 22th, 2026, at 11:00am. Friends will be received from 10 -11am, prior to the service, located at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Judes and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
