The life that Mr. Elder led was known to be one of true encouragement, compassion, and devotion to not only God, but to his family and friends. Bill was a college basketball coach, athletic director, and a published author of two books; 'All Guts and No Glory' & 'The Bucyrus That Was.' Some of his other passions included hunting, fishing, Alabama football, basketball, Nascar Cup Racing- William Byron being one of his most favored professional drivers, boxing, being a jokester, and giving out nicknames that will be cherished and carried by his loved ones eternally.
Bill was a truly devoted family man, American, and Christian. He was an active member of Frazer Free Methodist Church, where he dedicated his time and attention to the Men's Ministry. Mr. Elder valued his family immensely and was married to his loving wife, Vivian, for almost 54 years. He genuinely enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He never missed an opportunity to speak to his girls on the phone or in person, he ensured to be present and always wanted to be with them whenever possible. Bill also loved his granddogs, Wrigley, Aubie, and Oreo. The Elder family expresses that he was known to be a strong and quiet leader of the family, constantly cheering on his wife, daughters, and grandchildren to be the best versions of themselves as possible.
