MITCHELL, Willie Ray, 80, of Lowndesboro, AL, died unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday, October 29, 2016. He was a native of Covington County Alabama, and was a much beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Hammett Mitchell, and a grandson, William Van Cooper. He is survived by three children, Judith Ann Cooper (David), Margie Shamburger (C. James “Buddy”), of Montgomery; and David Ray Mitchell (Sheila) of Chesapeake, VA; three grandchildren, Justin Cooper, Christopher Mitchell and Skyler Mitchell; four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and Joey Mitchell, Jerry Joe Ingram, and Justin Dixon.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
Interment will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
