On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 1:15 AM, a Proverbs 31 woman Xenia Amalia Brown, peacefully transitioned from this world to a better place. Xenia was born July 24, 1954, in Colon, Republic of Panama to the late Joscelyn A. Russell and the late Gloria M. (Alleyne) Russell.
In 1976, May 22, Xenia married Edward David Brown. They were blessed with four wonderful, intelligent, smart children. She seldomly worked outside of the home and spent much of her life enjoying taking care of the home, her children, and her beloved. She worked with several nonprofit and for-profit organizations with Edward all centering around taking care of young couples and their children. She loved all children and spent much of her free time in their presence. She volunteered at every school that her children attended, conducted workshops on raising kids, marriage, nutrition, and arts and crafts. She was a perfectionist in everything she attempted especially loving her family.
Her husband, “Eddie”, as she sometimes called him, was in the United States Air Force. To ensure that the kids had a quality education, they began to homeschool them. They literally traveled all over the world, and she saw those opportunities to bring education to life: Panama, Philippines, Japan, Germany, England, Turkey, Hawaii, and nearly every state in the United States of America. She saw every opportunity to ensure there were educational experiences for the children as well as an opportunity to expand the horizon of her entire family. After 32 years four months and 15 days of military service, they retired from Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama. They had done so much traveling and exposure to the world that by the time he retired they had no bucket list but merely a list of repeats of the things enjoyed most. The homeschooling environment had allowed them to not only strengthen educational endeavors but also their spiritual walk. Every morning in the Brown's home there was prayer. Sometimes earlier than the kids wanted but always prayer. They understood that the foundation of their well-being existed in their commitment to the Word of God. They developed a strong Christian family and planted seeds that will grow forever. We know that no one is perfect but if you had to follow a virtuous model on this earth, then Xenia would be it!
She will always be remembered for the arts and crafts she created, even the ones she never shared. Her scrapbooks hold priceless memories, and the pottery she carefully shaped reflects her love and dedication. Her gentle spirit touched many, and her love for children, family, friends, and God's Word was evident in all she did. She cannot be forgotten—there are too many reminders of her kindness, too many cherished memories, and too many lives she impacted.
Xenia was preceded in death by her parents Joscelyn and Gloria Russell, a brother (Fred Alleyne, two sisters (Claudia Russell and Gisselle Russell), an uncle, and several aunts and cousins.
Xenia is survived by her devoted husband her “King” as she called him, Edward Brown of 48 years and 9 months of marriage, their children Jameal David Brown (Ma’Sheila), Taisha Amalia Aracen, Jason Timothy Brown (Crystal), Tara Natasha Dixon (John). She leaves behind twelve (12) beautiful grandchildren: Ta’Najah, Makayla, Jarius, Joshua, Jadon, Jamari, Josiah, Jeremiah, Joseph, Jesenia, Jelisa, and Mila. She also leaves behind her stepmother, Elena; her brothers, Joe (Delia) and Mario (Pamela) and Edwin; her sisters, Dilma (Freddie) and Cassandra. She is also survived by a host of aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and other family members in addition to numerous friends from all parts of the world.
