Andrew, known by many as Andy, was a dedicated and giving husband, father, and friend. While he was known to be friendly and loved a good joke, he was also known for being a stern gentleman when the need arose. Andy loved the land of Louisiana, having once owned a farm and nearly every farm animal you could imagine. He also loved the bayous of Louisiana, fishing, hunting and shrimping the many water ways. His family remembers wonderful memories of going down the bayou to the camp, swimming in the waters, and the infamous 'shot in the rear'.
Though he welded to provide for his family and once navigated the bayous as a boat captain, Andy could also be considered a jack of all trades. He once tried his hand as an electrician and was known for building beautiful model boats. He was also known for being very particular about his lawn and shrubs. Everything outdoors had to be precise. Most recently, Andy began the habit of speaking to his loved ones in french.
Those left to cherish Andy's beautiful memory is his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth "Becky" Aucoin; four children, Tommy Aucoin, Wesley Aucoin and his wife, Denise, Andrea Barras and her husband, Larry, and Jody Aucoin and his wife, Paula; one sister, Dora Pennison and her husband, Wayne; 14 grandchildren, Jessica, Katina, Leslie, Clint, David, Loretta, Jessie, Bubba, Rene', Desiree', Hope, Kristi, Adam, and Rebecca; 29 great grandbabies and nine great-great grandbabies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Irma Aucoin; three siblings, Douglas, Shirley, Verdelia, and one grandson, Victor.
The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance be observed on Sunday, August 18, 2024 from 6pm to 9pm at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation will resume on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 8am until time of services at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Amelia. A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Andy on Monday, August 19th at 10am at St. Andrew's Catholic Church with Andy being laid to rest in the church cemetery following services.
Those acting as pallbearers for Andy will be his beloved children, grandsons and grandson-in-laws.
The family would like to express their appreciation to St. Joseph Hospice and Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation of Franklin for the love and care they provided Andy in his final days. They also would like to thank Barbara Turner and Tycie Rink for their support and comfort they readily provided to Andy and his family.
