Hazel was a woman of deep faith, strong values, and an even stronger love for her family. She was a devoted member of the Lady’s Altar Society at St. Stephen Catholic Church, where she took great pride in serving her church community. A gifted homemaker and an exceptional cook, Hazel created a warm and welcoming home that became the heart of many family gatherings. Her kitchen was always filled with delicious meals, comforting smells, and laughter.
Above all else, Hazel adored her children and treasured her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She had a special way of making each one feel uniquely loved and supported. Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and strength lives on in all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her beautiful memory include her four loving children: Norma Richard Bower and her husband, Paul Sr.; Judy Richard Fontenot and her husband, Dennis Sr.; Charlotte Richard Stewart and her husband, James; and Joey Richard and his wife, Becky.
She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Melissa Bourq and her husband, Stephen; Nicole Ackman and her husband, Larry; Paul J. Bower II and his wife, Nicole; Kimberly Dupre and her husband, Daniel; Sandi Paradee and her husband, Chad; Zachary Stewart and his wife, Reid; Jordan Morvant and her husband, Justin; and Dawson Richard.

She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Onesime Richard; her grandson, Mill Fontenot; her parents, Asa and Zoe Higginbotham; and her six brothers.
