OBITUARY

Barry Paul Henry

September 18, 1964February 4, 2020

Barry Paul Henry, 55, of Morgan City, died suddenly on Tuesday February 4, 2020, surrounded by loved ones at Ochsner St. Mary. Barry graduated from Morgan City High School in 1984. He acquired many lifelong friends during years of motocross racing with his family throughout the southern states. His determination and love for the sport helped advanced him to a professional level of motocross, of which he was most proud. He then went to work for the family businesses, Henry’s Diesel Service and Gator Marine. With this experience, he founded his own businesses in the marine transportation industry- Henry’s Marine and Blake Towing. After many years of traveling the waterways as a captain and owner of many tugs, he then ventured into commercial fishing. Much happiness came from being outdoors, where he enjoyed deer hunting in Mississippi with family and friends, and most recently, being in the swamp catching crawfish and crabs. After being diagnosed with prostate cancer, he survived for four years and fought with determination, a love for life and a smile on his face until the very end. He inspired all who met him- friends old and new, and will never be forgotten. He is survived by his wife, Stacie Henry, of Centerville; children Slade Henry, Kade (Meagan) Henry, Paige Henry, and Blake Henry. Additionally, he will be sadly missed by his sisters, Jerry Lynn (Michael) Breaux of Gonzales, Frances (Allen) Smith of Metairie; and one surviving Aunt, Lora Nell Mayea of Patterson. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Peyton Henry, McKinley Henry, Raeleigh Henry, Landon Henry, and Alijah Henry. Other survivors include nephews, Nicholas Breaux, Heath Henry; Nieces, Danielle Conrad, Abigail (Alden) Carrere, and Michelle Conrad; two great nieces, Ryleigh Poche, Allie Breaux; one great nephew Jacques Carrere; and his precious toy poodle, Bella. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Francis Henry and Gladys Anslum Henry; as well as his brother Stephen Michael Henry. Visitation will be observed Monday, February 10 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm at Pharr Chapel conducted by Rev. Ann Sutton. He will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.

I am saddened to hear the news that my young childhood neighbor has passed. I was not surprised to hear he always had a smile on his face. That is how I remember him as a boy and young man. I personally witnessed his motocross skills and fearlessness on the track. He and his family were an important part and influence in my own life. Our family spent lots of time at his childhood home where Barry beat most people who played pool against him.
I would like to have met his family and children.
My thoughts and sympathy go to Barry, his family, sisters and all of his friends who love and will miss him.

Barry - I fondly remember you all through Elementary School. I can see you now with your curly blonde hair and that mischievous look in your eyes. I have a vivid memory of you in the cafeteria, putting that nut in the Coca Cola bottle and we watched it fizzle. I'm not sure why that memory stands out in my mind, but we were in awe of that. RIP my friend - until we meet again. Bev
