Long-time local teacher, Celine Elizabeth Gaudin Nails, 84, died Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at Patterson Healthcare Center where she had been a resident since February, 2015. Mrs. Nails spent most of her years teaching in St. Mary Parish with the exception of a short stint in Lake Butler, Florida. She began her teaching career at Morgan City High School with most of her educational contributions devoted to Aucoin Elementary School in Amelia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Fabiola DuCrest Gaudin, Jr. of St. Martinville. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Nails of Morgan City, and daughter Nicole Nails Stone and husband John William Burkett Stone III, and grandchildren Madison Elizabeth Stone and Lily Nicole Stone of New Orleans.
She was a native of St. Martinville, Louisiana. She graduated from Lady of Mercy Catholic High School in St. Martinville. She had bachelor degrees from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette and Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. Graduate work in music was accomplished at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College in Memphis, Tennessee.
Mrs. Nails’s cremains will be interred in the Nails family plot, Moonlight Gardens, in North Louisiana’s Springville Cemetery in Coushatta, Red River Parish, Louisiana. Private graveside services will be planned at a later date.
