Dewey, known to many as either Old Fart or Dew Dew, was the kind of gentleman who knew everything and was always right. If you wanted something done by Dewey, all you had to do was tell him it couldn't be done and then it was. Dewey proudly served his country in the United States Navy in the Attack Squadron 15 out of Jacksonville, FL. Dewey's home was his paradise. He enjoyed being on his property and watching the sun set over his pond with his son, Howard. If not at his home, he could often be found with his nephew, Ty, helping rebuild his camp in Stephensville. He adored taking his grandbabies out for a ride on his lawnmower. To his grandbabies, Pawpaw was their fix it all. He could do anything and everything.
Dewey leaves to cherish his memory his children, Howard Smith Jr. and his wife, Lisa, Shawn Smith Glorioso and her husband, Chris, Christine Smith, Denny Smith and his wife, Beth Steelman; his grandchildren, Areyel Smith and her fiancé, Gregory Kemp, Areyanna Smith, Derald Smith, Danayré Smith, Mariah Cook and her fiancé, Kurwin Jones, Danny 'Lil' Man' Cook Jr. and his fiancé, Kirsten Cochran, and Destiny 'Baby Girl' Nerger; his great grandchildren, Zanavis Smith, Aubrielle Kemp, Emberly Kemp, Brooklyn Smith, Savanah Smith, Dakota Smith, Evan Smith, Aleah Smith, Kamden Smith, Aydan Jones, Maison Jones, Ryzen Cook, and Christian Cook; his siblings, Sadie Mae Landry Angeron and her husband, Don, Gertrude Landry Lang, Gene Landry and his wife, Barbara, Harold Landry, Barnabas Landry and his wife, Donna, James Landry and his wife, Denise, and Crystal Landry Proctor and her husband, Mike; his caretakers, Deborah Holt, Cyretha Mills, Rachel Rodriguez, and Mrs. Julia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
