Elmo, affectionately known by many as “Omle,” was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was defined by love, joy, and a deep appreciation for the simple but meaningful moments. Whether dancing with his beloved wife, Dianne, at local festivals or walking hand in hand along the Berwick Walking Trail, Elmo embraced life with energy, grace, and humor. His presence was a constant at community events, where he and Dianne lit up the dance floor, their bond evident to all who watched. He had a passion for golfing and proudly attended the Masters Tournament thirteen years in a row while visiting his son—an annual tradition that reflected his love of the sport and his commitment to family.
Elmo was a man of many talents and even more passions. A skilled handyman who firmly believed in the power of duct tape, he could fix nearly anything and always found a creative solution to any problem. His shed, fondly considered his second home, was a testament to his vibrant personality—filled with photographs, music, and memories. A gifted drummer and avid music lover, Elmo found joy in playing his drums, though he likely kept the volume lower than he would have liked. His love of photography filled his home and shed with captured moments, a visual legacy of a life well lived. Deeply patriotic and proud of his country, Elmo traveled often, seeking out beauty and connection wherever he went. A faithful Catholic and proud parishioner of St. Stephen Catholic Church, he lived his life grounded in faith, family, and freedom. Elmo’s legacy is one of love, laughter, music, and moments—each memory he created leaving an indelible mark on those who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Elmo’s wonderful memory are his wife of 65 years, Dianne DePrima Chiasson; his four children, Kern Chiasson and his wife, Denise, Kerry Chiasson, Matthew Chiasson and his wife, Ashleigh, and Amy Chiasson; his five grandchildren, Ashley, Chad, Brooke, Mallory, Mason; and a host of loving great grandchildren.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, Elmo and Florence Chiasson Sr.; his son, Ferris Chiasson; and his five siblings Earl, Maurice, Shirley, Laura, and Sue.
The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance be observed on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 11:30am until time of dismissal at the St. Stephen Catholic Church Hall.
