Gary was a deeply kind and generous man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a wide-ranging love of music, from Journey to Celine Dion and even Enya, and was a devoted fan of LSU and the Saints. He enjoyed riding his street bike around town, embracing the freedom of the open road. Gary will be fondly remembered as a playful and goofy father during his children’s younger years, often making silly faces and bringing laughter into their home. Gary was also a dedicated caregiver. He stood by his wife through her battle with cancer - not once, but three times- caring for her with unwavering love and commitment until her passing from breast cancer. Raised by his loving grandparents, Herbert and Natalie, he learned the value of hard work early in life, beginning as a teenager in a local market before earning an opportunity at McDermott. There, he worked his way up from the ground level into quality control, eventually building a long career as a manager in the oil industry. Gary dedicated many years to his profession until illness forced him to step away from the work he valued so deeply.
Those to cherish his memory are his four siblings, Karen D. Ashley and her husband, Ty, Tracy Rhodes, Chasity Massicot and her husband, Frank, and Brittany Chapman and his two children, Emily Durocher and Peyton Durocher. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Brenda Foley and his sister-in-laws, Heather and Stephanie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wendy Durocher; his loving grandparents, Herbert and Natalie Durocher; his mother, Dolly Durocher and two siblings, Raphael Chapman and Misty Chapman.
