Herbert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather whose love for his family was at the center of his life. He found joy in the moments spent with those he loved, whether visiting family and friends around town or sharing stories, laughter, and music together. Music was one of his greatest passions, and he loved nothing more than picking up an instrument and playing a good tune. Gifted with many instruments, he spent years playing in bands and sharing his talent with others. Born and raised in Louisiana, Herbert also loved fishing and always seemed to know the very best spots. He was a devoted fan of the New Orleans Saints and an excellent pool player who was known for making remarkable shots. Herbert will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the joy, warmth, and kindness he brought to everyone who knew him.
Those left to cherish Herbert's wonderful memory is his wife of 59 years, Edna LaCoste Giroir; two children, Dana Albarado and Travis Giroir and his wife, Peggy; four grandchildren, Brennan Albarado and his fiance, Jardyn, Cassie Brezinsky and her husband, Jacob, Brandi Theriot and her husband, Kayne, and Jake Giroir and his girlfriend, Alexis; one great grandchild, Mia Jane Albarado.
He was preceded in death by his son, Herbert Giroir Jr.; his parents, Nay John and Violet Comeaux Giroir; and seven siblings, Onelia, Verna, Elizabeth, Linda, Dorothy, Irvin, and Nelson.
The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance be observed on Friday, May 22, 2026 from 12:30pm until time of services which will begin promptly at 4:00pm at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City.
