Joanie touched lives because she was real. She made real mistakes that hurt herself and the people she loved. She owned her mistakes and she lived with them. She loved with real love. Once Joanie loved you, it was for life. If she was hurt by someone, she forgave. Always! She cried for real and she laughed for real. She helped anyone in anyway she could. She took much better care of others than she did herself. She never judged and she never pretended to be anything other than who God made her. He made her with a beautiful soul. I am blessed to have shared her life as my sister.

I remember one year when Joanie came with us to The Haunted houses in Baton Rouge she was so scared but so silly at the same time she made our night the best it could have been just by having her there I miss her so much.

My sister-in-law and I was so close that when I came back to Franklin, LA in 1992-93, a guy thought she was my girlfriend/wife. We were inseparable. I told him no, she's my sister-in-law. Our relationship never changed over the years. I thank God that I got to see her when I was on vacation in August. Her last words to me was how we always ended a conversation, " I love you". She was love and is love. She embodied love. If she loved you, you knew it. R.I.P Sis. I love you eternally.
