Kirk was the heart of his family—loving fiancé, dedicated father, adoring grandfather, and proud great-grandfather. He was a true Cajun soul, whose heart belonged to the bayous of his beloved home. Whether casting a line for fish or hauling in crawfish, you could always count on Kirk to be found where the water was, living life to the fullest.
When it came to beer, his choice was clear: Bud Light, no questions asked. But it wasn’t just his drink of choice that made him unforgettable—his cooking did, too. Whether it was a legendary seafood boil, a barbecue that could make you weak in the knees, or a few other dishes, he knew how to make a meal feel like a celebration.
A man of boats, Kirk was especially proud of his houseboat, his personal slice of paradise on Earth. The moment it was finished, you could almost hear him planning his first great escape.
Above all, Kirk had a gift for laughter. His sense of humor filled rooms with joy, leaving everyone who crossed his path with a memory to cherish. His legacy isn’t just in the stories we tell, but in the love he shared with all of us.
Those left to cherish his memory is fiance, Avarie Gilmore; his six children, Courtney Girard and her husband, Ryan, Kirk Anslem Jr., Joel Anslem and his wife, Codie, Trent Anslem and his wife, Megan, Katie Anslem, and Dylan Anslem; and his boat load of grandbabies and one great grandbaby. He is also survived by his siblings, David Anslem and his wife, Ann, Sissy Patin and her husband, Kelly, and Shane Anslem and his two daughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Rose Anslem.
The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance be observed on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 10:00am until 2:00pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. Dismissal will follow the visitation. In keeping with the families wishes, Kirk will be cremated and place at his paradise on earth.
