Lona was a proud parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and had a deep devotion to praying the rosary. Family oriented, Lona was The Matriarch in her household and a vital member of 'The Sisters'. She was skilled in crafts, especially crocheting. She made many blankets and Christening gowns for her loved ones. A homemaker, she made sure each child and grandchild felt adored and loved.
Lona leaves to cherish her memory, her two loving children, Frances Ann Myers and David Myers and his wife, Jackie; six grandchildren, Mark VanMatre, Rebecca VanMatre, Sherry VanMatre, Adria Bergeron, David J. Myers, and Daniel B. Myers; and eleven great grandchildren, Tanner and Griffin Rachal, Serenity Saunders, Morgan Jones, Dylan and Dustin VanMatre, Katelyn, Aubrie and Carter Myers, Leland and Olivier Myers. Lona is also survived by two sisters, Ouida R. Blanchard and Earline R. Liner.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Minos Myers; her parents, Francis and Eugenie Romero; a great grandson, Zachary Jones; and five siblings, Minus Romero, Andrew Romero, Marie Roy, Anna Mae Simon, and Neola Hargrave.
The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance be observed on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 10am until time of rosary at 1:30pm at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. After visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2pm at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista with burial following in the Morgan City Cemetery.
