Ultimately, Mom spent many years working as a phone operator for Sears. Mom loved to sew, many of our school clothes were made by her hands. She spent many hours outside taking care of her numerous plants. Mom Loved to sit at home and look at the paintings created by her long time friend Marilyn Shingleton. For many years Mom was devoted to teaching her Sunday school class and stayed very active in WMU at the First Baptist Church in Morgan City, La.; First Baptist Church Crowley, La.; First Baptist Church Ganado, Tx. Mom loved shopping with friends and her children. She also loved playing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Above all, Mom and Dad created a loving home that made our friends want to visit and stay. Our home was a safe, loving space for all our friends and family.
Maxine is survived by her loving husband, George; her children, Sheri Hite, Debbie Muehlstein of Austin, Tx., and David Hite and his wife, Stacey, of Lafayette, La.; her grandchildren, Brent Stech, Tim Stech and Lori Stech of Austin, Tx.; and Liam Hite of Lafayette, La.; great grandchildren, Victoria Robbins and Ronin Arellano of Austin, Tx.

Dear Mr. Hite, Sheri, and The Hite Family,
Please accept my very sincere and heartfelt condolences over the loss of your wife, mother, and grandmother.
Sheri and I have been dear friends for many years, and although I never met your Mom, many times I spoke to her over the telephone. I will remember her sense of humor, wit, along with her “southern belle charm!” I was also aware of the wonderful relationship that Sheri had with her mother; it was more of two friends sharing endless shopping trips, cooking together, and tender moments of cats on their laps. Moments that will always be cherished.
Mr. Hite, please accept my sympathy to you, too. May you all find peace in your heart knowing that Mrs. Hite is at rest with G-d.

We have never had the pleasure of meeting Maxine, but have only heard loving comments from her daughter and my dear friend, Sheri Hite. I remember Sheri putting her career second to move closer to her parents to assist them. In knowing the beautiful person Sheri is, Maxine sounds like she was an amazing woman. One of the toughest losses in life is the loss of your mother. Our deepest sympathies to the family and dear friends of Maxine Lavone Hite. May she live on and live big in all of your hearts and memories. Love and peace to all of you at your time of sorrow.
Our deepest sympathies,
Louis and Angela Falletta
