Oscar Leo Salinas, a native of San Benito, Texas and a resident of Morgan City for the past 12 years passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at the age of 32.
Leo was employed at Conrad Industries were he enjoyed his work and was never late. He would always show up early and stay later than required. Quickly, he became an asset at Conrad’s because of his bilingual ability. Leo was a faithful member of Higher Ground Family Church, loving the Lord with all his heart. Leo quickly became a vital part of the church, working with the children and youth for many years. An avid and loyal fan of Star Wars, Leo attended several Comic-con conventions in his lifetime. Leo also was a Black Belt 1st Dan in the Silver Dragon Academy of Tae Kwon Do, where he competed and judged competitions. Leo also enjoyed cooking and was quite good at it. One of the nice guys, Leo always had a smile on his face and never a harsh word to or for anyone.
Leo is survived his father, Oscar Salinas of McAllen, Texas.; his brother, Ricardo A. Salinas of Monterrey, Mexico; his aunt and uncle, Estela and Arturo Salinas of Bayou Vista; his niece and nephew, Arly and Arturo Jr. Leo is also survived by countless relatives and friends.
Leo is preceded in death by his mother, Edith G. Moya and his brother, Eric A. Salinas.
A time of remembrance and refection will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Hargrave Funeral Home from 3 pm until 9 pm. Services will be held at 4 pm and 5 pm. Leo’s wish were to be cremated and his ashes laid to rest in the family tomb next to his mother and brother in Monterrey, Mexico.
