Ronnie Cuvillier, best known as Brother Ronnie, a lifetime resident of East St. Mary Parish, went on to glory on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the age of 66. Brother Ronnie was a passionate pastor to many and a tireless investor in all. He leaves behind a legacy characterized by a loving family and a vibrant body of believers whose lives are forever impacted by his influence.

A well-known and respected member of our community, Brother Ronnie was a master of many trades. To name a few, he worked in the oilfield industry as a salesman, was a marine electrician, worked as a carpenter, and professionally tuned pianos (He even tuned Ray Charles' piano once at the Morgan City Auditorium.) before he dedicated his life to ministry. With a humble and gracious heart, Brother Ronnie founded Higher Ground Family Church in Stephensville dedicating his life to mending the brokenhearted, strengthening the weak, and building the Kingdom. He instilled truth, honor, integrity, excellence, and love into every life he encountered and every project he accomplished. He exemplified to the world a man after God's own heart, a mighty man of valor.

Brother Ronnie was a phenomenal husband to his high school sweetheart of 46 years, Myrna Beaugh Cuvillier; an outstanding dad to his two children, Christine Cuvillier and Chet Cuvillier and his wife, Reneé; and an astronomical Paw-Paw to his four grandkids, Harmony Rose, Daisy Joy, Corban Russell, and Boaz Alexander. He was son to Russell Cuvillier, Sr. (deceased) and O'Nealia Ragin and was a supportive brother to his siblings, Gloria Comeaux, Bobby Cuvillier, and Russell Cuvillier, Jr.

Brother Ronnie was preceded in death by his father and his step-mother, Mary Cuvillier.

The heart of the Father to the children is truly the legacy of Brother Ronnie. For 16 years Brother Ronnie, along with his family, and church has helped ROC Ministry reach out to the children of Honduras. “Brother Ronnie was a father to many.” He climbed mountains and went to villages to take food, clothes, and medicines to the poor. He built desks for schools where children were receiving classes under trees. He helped build a home for the neglected, abused, and abandoned children. “Casa Cielo” Heaven’s Home.
Brother Ronnie led so many little ones to the Lord and cared for their well being. “Brother Ronnie was a father to many.” He served the Lord by serving the children of Honduras.

Pastor Ronnie was such a gentle, kindhearted man. He will be forever remembered as someone the Shipman family loved dearly and respected greatly. His love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a man of integrity and honor. His wit and humor were unrivaled. Although we didn’t see him as often as we would have loved to, when we did, it was as if no time had passed. He just had that way about him. I’m so thankful and honored to have known him on this earth and though he is going to be greatly missed, I know I will see him again. Myrna and family, know that we are praying for that perfect peace that passes all understanding to rest upon you in this difficult time. Know that we love you and are here for you, too.

I went to Brother Ronnie’s and Sister Myrna church. They are very loving, gentle, caring people. I loved them both from the start. I stopped going because of personal health reasons but I really missed them. But Brother Ronnie I know you are in Glory now not a doubt. I am so sorry for your loss to the family. That’s the hard part the ones left behind. But I can picture brother Ronnie just dancing all over the place and meeting everyone. He will be checking out the food too. He loved to eat. Until we meet again Brother Ronnie may you dance and sing and play your guitar.

I grew up with Ronnie, he was a big brother to me. I was always hanging around him and my brothers. I learned how to be a somewhat mechanic with them and their motorbikes and cars. I am so glad that I went visit Ronnie and Myrna the last time I was in Louisiana. Ronnie wrote a song for his mom back then and I loved listening to him play the guitar and sing it. I know you were a great pastor but you will be missed big brother. Love ya

A true man of God on earth. He truly leaves a void in the lives of so many. Your memories of him will gradually fill the hole in your heart and sustain you. My deepest condolences to Myrna, Christine, and Chet. He was taken from you way too soon.

Brother Ronnie, what a man! Loved GOD, loved his family, loved his church, loved everyone. Always smiling, in a great mood, uplifting, a great since of humor, loved to laugh. He was the friendliest person I have ever met. His talents were many, but he never bragged about them, so few of us will ever know just how many talents he really had, there were many. He was one of the greatest human beings I have ever met. For those who never met him, you have missed knowing a great man!
