Robert Anthony Lodrigue Sr., 94, a native of Bayou Dularge and a lifelong resident of Berwick, passed away, Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at his residence while surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, RoseMary Sons Lodrigue of Berwick; one son, Kenneth Lodrigue of Patterson; two daughters, Dorothy Anthony of Houma, and Susan Sons and her husband, Wilber Sons Jr., of Berwick; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Octave and Emily Hotard Lodrigue; one son, Robert Lodrigue Jr.; one grandson, Robert Murphy Lodrigue; four brother and seven sisters.
A member of the AARP, American Legion, VFW, and the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad, Robert proudly served and volunteered his time to these organizations. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, woodwork, and gardening. Anything around the house that needed to be tended to, he joyfully took care of it. For over 30 years, he worked at Arthur Levy Boat Services as an engineer. He also proudly served in World War II in the United States Army. Robert was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family requests that visitation be observed Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 6pm to 10pm at Hargrave Funeral Home with a memorial by the VFW and American Legion at 7pm. A Eulogy will follow the memorial service. Visitation will resume Friday, October 26th at 8am until time of services at Hargrave Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 2pm at Hargrave Funeral Home with Brother Ben Thibodaux officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Berwick Cemetery where military honors will be rendered by the East St. Mary Veteran’s Funeral Squad in honor of their friend and past member.
