Mrs. Donna Jewett, I haven't meet you personaly, but I spoke with you on the phone. I am Rebecca Martin at Courtesy Mazda of M.C. I came across your father-in-laws obituarie and reconized your name. I just wanted to send my condolenses. Please except my heart felt sorrow for you, your husband,daughter and entire family.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the online guestbook. Your memories of Dad help keep him alive in all of us. It's comforting to hear how he played a part in all our lives. He had such loyal and wonderful friends who stood by his side, even to the end. I love you guys.

I would like to stress the importance of telling your loved ones what you have to say before it is too late. I waited too long and didn't get the chance to tell my Dad a few things. This made me very sad, so....... here is my chance to say what I wanted to say:

DAD:

  I love you very much, I have always loved you and will never stop loving you. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to tell you that. I know you knew I loved you, but maybe I could have said it more. I never realized you were worried about me or my life. You never voiced that to me, but did to others. Dad, you don't have to worry anymore. I promise to make the necessary changes to get things back in order. I'm sorry that I didn't tell you that sooner. That way it could have eased your mind. I miss you and think about you everyday. Thinking about when you would call and talk to me about all your projects you had going on. Like Greg said, you should have opened up a pawn shop or junkyard. You were always working on something. That made you happy. You were always telling me and Lee that we needed to take care of our "stuff". Like when I told you I had to replace my front tires on my car when I just bought new tires a year ago. You said well that's why you have to rotate them. When I bought that inflatable pool with the pump, I thought it was working like a charm. The pump was on with the water circulating through it. You said make sure to keep the filter clean. I said, "What filter"? I was running the pump with no filter inside. You just laughed.

I miss you Dad. I just can't believe your gone. I know that you are not suffering anymore and for that I am grateful. But it still doesn't take away the hurt in my heart. You will be forever missed.

I remember every time my Pappy Roy would come down we would play video games. He bought me my first dirtbike and inspired me to ride them for the rest of my life. He was very fond of fixing things and making them run better. I wish he could have taught me to work on things like my truck and dirtbikes while he was here but I wasnt interested then. I love him and miss him very much and wish he were still here.

I met Roy in 2002 after he and my Mom had become friends. She was recently widowed and his Mom had a house down the street. He stopped by one day to inquire about my Dad's old car that Mom had for sale, Roy was always looking to bargain, trade or make a good deal. He came by often and they quickly became friends, as did we.  They had a lot of fun together and I can't recall a time when she was any happier,that was the effect Roy had on people, always making others laugh and smile and having a good time. 

My Mom was always terrified of water and wouldn't dare get on a motorcycle. I couldn't believe it when she told me that she and Roy had been out in his boat, riding the jet ski or the days that they would show up at my house after riding around on his bike. They traveled together, played dominoes, enjoyed having family over for cook outs and were always buying and selling things on EBay, that's how they got his convertible.  They made a good deal on the car and were going to do a few things to fix it up then sell it and make some money but she saw how much Roy loved cruising around in that old car and just couldn't part with it.  I remember many times that we would go to visit them and he would have to show us all the old cars and boats he had found on EBAY, he loved those big house boats. They went alot of places and did many things together before she became physically unable to do so.  They had begun to remodel their houses and planned to get a home in the country together. He was so proud of the work that he had done on his house and loved showing off, we were all sad to learn that it had burned. I think that Roy was more upset over losing his cat "Hitch hiker" than he was over his house. That was Roy, always thinking of others more than himself. He was so happy to find that old cat hanging around his house a couple days later.   

Within a few months after the fire, my Mom's health worsened. Roy was so compassionate and attentive to her and for that my family and I are truly grateful. She passed away shortly after surrounded by all the people she loved most, my sister and me, her granddaughters and Roy. We all embraced Roy as family, as he did us.

Over the last year we had become very close. I enjoyed hearing stories of him and his friends like Scott and Greg, they must have had a lot of fun together over the years. He spoke often of his family Lee, Donna, Missy and his grandchildren, he was so proud of them and after spending time with them myself, I can certainly understand why.  I pray that they will all be blessed with peace and comfort during this difficult time.

I hope that when we all think of Roy, we remember his smiling face, good nature, kind heart, fun loving spirit and all the good times that we shared with him. He was a simple man who lived a good life and I know that my life is better having had him in it and for that I am so thankful. He holds a special place in my heart as I know he does in yours. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Pop I am very proud to be a part of your of the family and have you as my father-n-law. I am so greatful for the memories you were able to set for Courtney and Bug.  I really enjoyed the stories you would tell and also the stories your friend would tell about you.  You were one of a kind.  A fun filled spirit who lived life to the fullest.  We will always have you in our hearts & memories.  Until we meet again,may you rest in peace.

Roy was my cousin by marriage..He was not selfish at all and i enjoyed being around him because he was cool!I went shrimping with him a lot on his lafitte skiff.He was very smart about engines and cars and motorcycles.It is very strange to me for him to be gone...He died the day i decided to go see him..I was very sad...I will miss him for sure!Gone but never forgotton....

I miss Roy.He means so much to me.I'am greatful to have had the times we had.
Roy lives on in each of us now.Roy has such a wonderful loving family and friends

Roy was a very unique special person, he had a very compassionate loving spirit,he spread love and laughter everywhere he went. He loved and cared for people just the way they were never trying to change them. His compassion for the elderly, my Special Olympic athelics and my son Dave was amazing. I told him the last time I saw him how much we loved him and how much he met to us, thanking God for him in our lives.  Lee and Missy I thank you'll for the kindness you'll always showed us. Your Dad did talk about you'll and the kids everytime we saw or spoke to him, he loved you'll so much.  I know he will be missed so very much.  I know we will miss him, he touch our lives in such a special way. I know when I think of him it will be with joy and thanksgiving, he wouldn't want us to be sad. Our prayers are with you'll.

I first met Roy in the early 1970’s when we both worked for Continental Diving Service.  It did not take long to realize Roy was a unique individual that lived life to its fullest.  Although he was not the best influence, he was a lot of fun to be around whether you were offshore on a diving job or on the beach. 



It did not matter how difficult or dangerous the diving job, how miserable the living conditions or food, or how long the hours, Roy enjoyed diving and was second to none.  He loved playing boure and got great pleasure when someone boured, especially if he was the cause.



I always said Roy should have owned a pawn shop or junk yard.  The only problem is he did a much better job of collecting than he did of getting rid of what he collected.  How many kids have had the pleasure of having a Yokahama boat bumper in their back yard to play on while they were growing up?



Roy has touched the life of many people and was from a generation of divers that worked hard and played even harder.  There were only a few that could keep up with him and they were far and few between.  I think the nickname that Fussell fondly called him fit him as well as any – “Bad Boy Roy”.



I was fortunate to spend some time with Roy the last several months of his life.  Never once did I hear him complain about the card he had been dealt.  He enjoyed talking about Lee, Missy, old friends and old times.  I was amazed at how much he would recall.



He will be missed.



Roy, was one of the great divers of our time, just ask Jerry Gauthier. I always thought of him as a bull in the water. He was a better friend and so much fun to be around. I think everyone that knew Roy always smiled and always will smile when his name is mentioned.

My Pawpaw Roy is the best motorcycle driver, car driver, and car fixer I have ever known. I love my pawpaw and we had good times together. I will miss him a lot and I love my pawpaw. Your Grandson, Bug

Uncle Roy will be missed he was the best guy around.  He had worked on alot of thing over his life time and if you needed any help or advice on a project around the house, or on your car he pretty much had done it before.  He always had a project that he was working on so if you ever needed a tool you could bet he had it or knew where to find it.
Roy always keeps us informed about Missy and Lee and how they were doing.  Mom and Dad are sure going to miss him weather it was a quick chat on the phone or him droping by for coffie. 
Missy and Lee stay in touch we love you guys.

As a child I always enjoyed visits from Uncle Roy and all of you.  We didn't get to see you guys often, but I really enjoyed the time we spent together.  All of you guys talked funny to us Texans and had strange words that meant other things than what we were used to hearing.  It was definitely an educational experience to see you guys.  I loved your accents and no matter how hard I tried I could never talk like you guys.  

Uncle Roy always had so many interesting stories to tell he was amazing to listen to.  You could never tell if he was kidding or not.  Some of his stories seemed farfetched, but ended up being true.  I know my kids also loved to go and visit him in Paris.  He had so many interesting things at his house to play with and play on.  They would always say, "Mom is Uncle Roy telling the truth or not, did that really happen?".  I could tell that he had once again captivated another generation with his stories.  

I know he loved Missy and Lee very much.  You weren't around to hear him talk about you like I was.  I know he was proud of you guys.  I'm certainly going to miss him.  I will always have wonderfully fond memories of him as a child and as an adult.  Roy was a wonderfully unique individual and will be missed by all of us.  May God bless you all during your time of loss.  May he grant you the peace your heart desires and the memories that abound only in love.  Love Always, Necci
