It is with abundant sadness that we announce the earthly departure of our beautiful, angelic mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and Aunt Syble “Jeanette” Stretch Duval in the early morning hours of October 24, 2026.
Our Mama and Granny was a treasure to all who knew her and everyone who did know her loved her. She was the backbone of our family and never denied us anything if she could reasonably provide it. Our family was the most important thing to her right beneath her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She provided us a near perfect example of how to be exemplary people and how to live life so as to best please Our Father in Heaven. Our sorrow is tempered by the joy we know she is currently experiencing in His presence.
She was the best wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Aunt any of us could ever have dreamed up and God saw fit to bless our family with her for 85 years.
In these later years she showed us how to age with joy, grace and dignity. She always praised God for His many blessings and never complained even though she might well have in many cases. She was a joy to care for. Her happiness, brilliant smile and eternal optimism were things to behold. We will miss that about her greatly.
We would like to thank the staff of Legacy Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Morgan City who cared for her on and off for the last many years, and Haydel Hospice who tended to her in her final days. The compassionate care of the nursing facility and the hospice staff meant more to our family than we can ever express. On a lighter note, we feel certain that she has already located the nearest BINGO game!
She was preceded to Heaven by her husband, Eli E. Duval (“Pup”, or “T-Boy”); son, Robert “Drew” Duval; grand daughter, Allyson “Ally” Duval; brother, Julius C. Stretch (“J.C.” or “Corky”); mother, Naomi S. Stretch (nee: Johnson); and father, Drew A. Stretch. What a wonderful reunion they all must be having!
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl “Renée” Daigle (nee: Duval); grand daughters: Bethany R. Daigle and her husband Jason P. LeBlanc, Heaven L. Daigle, Emily Duval and Lindsay Duval; grandsons: Drew M. Duval and his wife Rae Duval, Cory Duval and his wife Teresa Duval; great grandchildren: Rosemary L. Daigle and Elijah Duval; niece: Maureen Pitre (nee: Stretch); nephew: Shawn P. Stretch, and so many others on her husband’s side that we cannot reasonably list them all but she loved every one. She will certainly rest peaceful in His arms until we all meet her again.
Arrangements are being handled by Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City and will be announced at a later date.
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." ~Ephesians 4:32
