March 1, 1951 - July 10, 2020
Urban Paul Prestenbach Jr, a native and longtime resident of St. Mary Parish, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the age of 69.
A friend, mentor, and natural leader, Urban was the kind of person who could fill so many roles with his sharp mind and caring nature. Though he was a private person to most, Urban was known for being an open book to those he loved and kept close. Urban provided for his family as an accomplished boat captain and held his license for over 40 years. It was thanks to the career he loved that Urban was well traveled and able to take part in experiences that few others ever have a chance to. Though Urban enjoyed being a boat captain, he also had hobbies, such as his love of reading and was being an avid car enthusiast. He greatly enjoyed going to the racetrack. Out of all of his immense accomplishments in life, his greatest was being able to teach his daughters the value of finding joy in their work and giving them the knowledge that doing so would bring a different type of reward. Urban was the kind of individual who was motivated to do things the right way in all aspects of life. This is especially in how he raised his daughters. By doing all things in his life, the ‘right away’, Urban left his girls a great legacy. Urban will be loved and missed until eternity by the ones who had the opportunity to truly know him.
Those left to cherish Urban's wonderful memory are his daughters, Shawna Presenbach White and her husband, Dr. Benjamin White, and Sarah Prestenbach; one sibling, Alton "Sonny" Prestenbach; two grandchildren, Noah Benjamin White and Audrey Eva White.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Urban Prestenbach Sr. and Ena Eva Landry, and two siblings, Carol and Ena Jean.
A time of memorial visitation and remembrance for Urban will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 10am until time of dismissal at 1:45pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. Following dismissal, Urban will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum.
Due to current government mandate, Hargrave Funeral Home can only allow 150 guests in the facility and those guests are required to were face masks and adhere to social distancing protocols.
