Though retired, Vernon was the proud co-owner of Motor Service Garage and an auto mechanic whose skilled hands and dedication left a lasting mark on his community. He also fished commercially in Louisiana's bayous, embracing the challenges and rewards of life on the water. A passionate outdoorsman, Vernon served as a board member of the Southern Atchafalaya Sportsman Club and was the proud founder and owner of the Aucoin Hunting Club in Alabama. He found joy in nature and treasured moments with loved ones but appreciated time alone. Vernon knew the value of an opinion, especially his. His famous words are forever etched into the hearts of those who will forever miss him, “Y’all gon see, Y’all ALL gon see, ya’ll ain’t seen nothing yet!”
Those left to cherish Vernon’s wonderful memory are his spouse, Jacqueline “Jackie” Vaughn; his three sons, Kurtis Aucoin (Audrey), Travis Aucoin (Katie), and Mac Landry (Tessie); his three daughters, Krissa Aucoin Chauvin (Shane), Carla Aucoin and Abby Broussard (Michael); and his seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Vernon is also survived by his stepmother, Evelyn Aucoin; three brothers, Ronald Aucoin Sr. (Wanda), Rickey Aucoin Sr. (Brenda), and Kevin Aucoin and his five sisters, Mollie Falcon, Lois Aucoin, Sheila David, Jackie David, and Liesa Aucoin Peltier (Chris).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Aucoin and Nora Percle.
