Wayne lived a full life and was always unapologetically himself. A little rough around the edges, stubborn, and never afraid to speak his mind, you never had to wonder where you stood with him. In his earlier years, he was a hardworking man as a Boat Captain, who believed in putting in an honest day’s work. He lived life on his own terms and did things his own way...right up until the end. Beneath that tough exterior was a man who cared in his own way, and those who truly knew him understood the heart behind the rough edges. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, memories, and a character that will not soon be forgotten.
Wayne is survived by his son, Joshua Hiles and his significant other, Lisa; his daughter, Jeana Moore; his step-children that he has raised as his own, Tyonia Hebert and her husband Gregory, Lloyd Gros and his wife Jennifer, Heath Gros and his wife Chante, Chad Gros, and Dawn Gros. Wayne is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Before the time of ChatGPT, Wayne was the name generator for everyone who was near and dear to him, because of that is why the grandchildren’s names are not listed.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sharon “SueSue” Hiles; and a son, Jonathan “Dudie” Hiles.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 10:00 am until time of service which will begin at 1:00 pm at Hargrave Funeral Home with a graveside service following in the Morgan City Cemetery.
