Alan Douglas Maring

July 1, 1955October 11, 2020

Alan Douglas Maring passed away at home Oct 11, 2020. Born July 1, 1955 to the late Alvin and Mildred Maring in Muskegon, MI. Al will be missed and remembered by his wife Sandi, children Leslie and Chris St. Amour and Lindsie and Cory Lind. His "Little Buddies" Landon, Ryder and Brodie who held a special place in Grandpa's heart. His siblings Linda VanDyke, Paula (Doug) Hoeker, Sherri (Dave) Mulkey and Gary and Linda Rottman.

Al was best known to most as the original owner of 1st Class Towing. He loved helping those in need and bringing a smile to their face. He retired in 2015 so he could spend time at his "Heaven on Earth" cabin in the UP of Michigan. Al looked forward to being a permament Yooper where life was so simple. He was happiest there and always looked forward to going back for the next project. His family always came first, his girls were his life and he treasured every minute with them. He was there to help out wherever he could. No matter what was asked of him he was there. His friends were treated the same way. Al could putz in his barn with Ed or his boys for hours at a time, building or fixing anything. He loved to work outside, build things, do woodworking or just make a mess. Al loved the Green Bay Packers and football games were always a special time with family and friends in his Packer Room. Al was a man with a huge heart and had the gift to make all those he met smile. He has touched so many peoples lives especially those closest to him. He made all he touched better people for knowing and loving him. Those lives will never be the same without him.

Per Al's request cremation has taken place and no services will be held. He asked that you remember his life with a smile or laugh and not his death.

Rest in peace Al til we see each other again. You are Home!

In lieu of flowers help out someone in need and remember Al.

Al, will be missed so much. Sandi and Al were always there when we needed them. I remember playing cards almost every weekend when the kids were little. Al had the most positive attitude and biggest smile. Sandi, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Miss you!

From a cousin of nearly the same age, I have fond memories of time spent at the Maring cottage on Lake Michigan during family gatherings. Running in the dunes, body surfing and water skiing followed by hot dogs, watermelon pit spitting contests and burnt marshmallows was a wonderful way to spend time during growing up years.
