
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Dorothy Lutz and his sister Jean (Lutz) Sloan.
Allen is survived by Jan, his wife of 47 years and two sons, Jeremy (Erin) Lutz of San Diego, CA and Nicholas Lutz of Muskegon, MI, two brothers, Tom (Yvonne) Lutz of Mansfield, OH, Dave (Carolyn) Lutz of Crestline OH, and one sister Carol (Dennis) Gates of Lancaster, OH. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Allen was born in Shelby, OH on July 20, 1940. He attended Most Pure Heart of Mary elementary school and Shelby High School where he played on the Whippets football, track, baseball and tennis teams. He was the valedictorian of his class and class president for several years. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University, in 1969. He was employed at various manufacturers including Brunswick Corp, Herman Miller, Inc., and Haworth, Inc. He concluded his professional career as an engineering consultant, working in both Chicago and Minneapolis. Al loved life and loved his family. His greatest pleasure was playing or watching the next game. Over the years, he enjoyed racquetball, handball, golf, tennis, fishing, canoeing and camping, as well as spending time on the shores of Lake Michigan. When his sons were young, he was a YFCA youth soccer coach. Allen was a devoted Buckeye fan, dodging much harassing from his Michigan friends. He and Jan were members of the Mona Lake Boat Club for many years where they enjoyed the social activities with friends. Al was a man of integrity, honesty and compassion and champion of all. He will be missed terribly.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 1:00pm at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel.
