OBITUARY

Arik Demeko Hoffman

February 25, 1997January 24, 2021

Arik “Fatty” Hoffman, age 23, was unexpectedly and tragically taken from us by senseless gun violence on Sunday, January 24, 2021 in Muskegon Michigan.

Arik has made an amazingly huge impact on so many lives in these short 23 years of life. His sense of humor was, in his words, “ri-dick-ulously” funny. Give him five minutes and you’ll forget why you were in a bad mood.

Fatty is survived by his mother, Kerri Hoffman, father, Aric Cotton, mother and father in law, Eddie and Anna Cruz, wifee, Jasmine Cruz, children, Giovanni and Raelynn (his whole world!), brothers, Javin, Jordon, Keith, Nate, and Chyler, sisters, Arielle and Arica, close uncle, Jeff Hoffman, brothers in soul, Tavin, Cam, Justin, and Cody, and many, many more aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins – not enough room on the whole internet to list them all. Preceding Arik in death is his maternal grandmother, Debra Hoffman.

There will be a public visitation on January 29, 2021 at 10am to 1pm at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel with burial to follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Please be advised, following the state mandate, only 25 guests will be allowed in the building at a time, and those who attend must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Arik was very excited to be starting #BikesUpGunsDown; please continue that spirit in his honor.

Memorial contributions can be submitted via CashApp to his mother, $Kerribdontuwish, to be starting a fund toward Arik’s children's futures.

I remember the day you were born!!!(my fingers are raw from rubbing your mom’s back for 17 hours lol)
Deb (grandma) & I were there To see your brightest blue eyes, and watch you take your first breath. Your mom was having a hard time pushing you out- And I’m glad that you got to hear the story that day you and your mom came to Lansing(then we went to Tanger in Howell). I haven’t really seen you in years since you were a baby and it was good to spend a little time with you.
Your grandma was there to see you born, and she was there to help cross you over. How blessed!

Thinking of you all the time. Sad that Some Time & Life’s moments passed me by.
If you’re just somebody reading this post, apologize and make up to people who are in your life that aren’t anymore. Life is short.

I Love you ‘Meko! Rih!!!

Share a memory.... Man kiddo we would be here for weeks... Ive known you since you were like 14... U always respected and showed nothing but love for me. You loved my son like your brother and as scared as the two of you made me, I always knew my son was safe with YOU. When I had problems. I could count on you. Those are just a few things I'm gonna miss so much about you kiddo. Your big beautiful smile always made me smile.. No matter how hard I may of wanted to cry or slap you and tavin upside the heads for giving me false heart attacks
You changed this world Fatty. You changed ME. I loved you on earth and my heart aches but loves you even more in heaven
Until we meet again son.... You will never be forgotten.

My brother. There isnt a thing in this world i wouldnt do for you. And every minute that passes i just wish this was all a bad dream. You've lived with me. You said all the right things when I was having a bad day. We swapped clothes. I gave you clothes. We shared shoes. I always had a plate whenever you needed. You always had a place to stay. This life will never be the same for some of us.
I love you so much my brother. You got them wings and guess what your off probation now lol. I hope you see everything you ever wanted to see now baby boy.
