Arlene JoAnne Bates, age 81, died on April 7, 2020 in her home surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Muskegon Michigan on October 9, 1938. Arlene married the late Gerald L. Bates on April 6, 1968. Arlene had a love for crocheting and stock car races. You could always find her at Winston Speedway and Thunderbird Raceway.
She is survived by her children, Debra (Phill) Beets, Richard Strang Jr., Steven Strang (Deb), Carol (Joe) Tucker, Robin Norwick (C.J.), Chuck (Cherie) Bates, Rick (Mary Jo) Bates, Sherry (Jeanne) Bates, David (Janet) Bates, 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, brother, Steven Rouse, sisters, Karen McClendon, Marcia Glackman, Lois Gallant, and Kim Vanderwest, special friends, Helene Robinson and daughter Carrie, and many friends.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents , Myrtle Kincade, Bert and Kittie Hill, sisters, Vivian Stoops, Linda Jordan, and Irene Brandt.
Due to mandates by the State of Michigan and the CDC, there will be no services at this time.
