August W. Kelsch Sr., age 73 passed away on February 2, 2011. He was born in Suttons Bay on October 30, 1937 to the late Marvin and Beatrice Kelsch. Gus is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret; five children, Debora (Daniel) McKee, James, August Jr. (Sonny), Kathy Giles and Jeffrey; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four brothers, Peter (Marie), Robert (Ruth), Jerry (Darlene), and Ivan (Carrie) Kelsch along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny; four sisters, Esther Cunningham, Helen Merbs, Doris Wilcox, and Linda who died in infancy. Gus was retired after 20 years of service from the United States Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial visitation will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel on Monday, February 7, 2011 from 2 to 5 p.m. Military Honors will be given at 2:00 p.m. to start the visitation.
