

Bion was born March 15, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois to Bion R. and Lillian (Schodrof) Jacobs. He was a lifelong resident of Hersey, MI, where he served as mayor for 10 years, and a member of Hersey Council. Bion was active in the Masonic Lodge, where he served as Past Master for the Hersey Lodge and served on the township board and school board for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1948 to 1952, and later in life was active with the Reed City VFW honoring other service members during funerals, parades, and other ceremonies. He worked for Tubelite/Miller Industries for over 30 years, and in his retirement, he enjoyed working at the Hersey Transfer Station, Babb Ford as a driver, and Hydaker Wheat Lake as a driver and load, and clearance operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with the local Amish community as a driver and close friend. His hobbies were hunting and fishing or discussing American history and all things nature related. If it was featured on the History Channel or Animal Planet, he was sure to watch and share fun facts with friends and family.
Bion will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva “Ruth” Jacobs in 2024.
Bion is survived by his 4 children, Bob (Karen) Jacobs, Jeanine (Nick) Wedberg, Doug (Lynne) Jacobs, and Steve (Barb) Jacobs; grandchildren Stephanie (Jeff) Balon, Sean (Stephanie) Wedberg, Christey Jacobs, Jillian (Brian) Dunbar, Ashley (Rob) Cantrell, Adam Jacobs, Athena (Stephen) DeCarlo, Alissa Jacobs; 11 great grandchildren; many extended family and friends.
A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
