Candy was born May 16, 1947 in Muskegon, Michigan to Betty Carol and Bertram Sparks
She was preceded in death by her husband Pastor Jerry Whitman on May 7, 2015.
She is survived by her children, Joy Whitman-Becker, and Jason (Mary) Whitman;
15 grandchildren; Justin (Alyssa) Becker, Isaac Becker, Shekinah (Liz Strom) Becker, Tori Lynn (Eden) Guzman, Matthew (Maddi) Weidner, Danielle Weidner, Sarah Whitman, Joshua Whitman, Elijah Whitman, Carol Jean Whitman, Levi Whitman, Hiram Whitman, and 1 great grandchild; Gabriel Weidner.
Sister; Tammie (Rick) Wierengo, Sister-in-law; Lola Hammond, and many loved Nieces and Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins
Candy was a founding member of Muskegon Overeaters Anonymous group in 1978, and served as sponsor in that 12 step program for many grateful participants over the course of her lifetime, once weighing 311bs., she maintained her weight loss goal.
Candy was also a member of Alanon, sharing her experience, strength and hope with those who loved active or sober alcoholic people. Candy leaves a legacy of wisdom with many loved friends in both organizations.
Candy was also very active in the DeColores community,. She made Cursillo #148 in 1981.
A celebration of Candy’s life will take place at a later date and time to be announced.
Interment is at Egelston Township Cemetery.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the family for distribution to Candy's favorite charities.
