

Carmen Elmira Araiza was born June 14, 1933. She married Donald Potter in 1951. Carmen was blessed with over 10 children in her life. She worked hard to provide a good life for her children. She enjoyed her grandchildren, sewing, classical music as well as traditional Mexican music, and baseball. She was a devoted, faithful, strong, wise, loving, matriarch of the family. She often filled roles in the family to be the teacher, caregiver, and peacemaker. Carmen will be missed deeply by all those whose lives she touched.
Carmen is survived by: her children, Violet Hillsburg, Ruby Lau, Joseph (Linda) Potter, Cathy Potter, Daniel (Rosemary) Potter, Donald (Michael) Potter, Paul (Erin) Potter, Lisa (Scott) Wilson, and Charles (Jennifer) Potter; a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three grandchildren raised by her, Christina (Heather) Posvistak, Lisa Jo (Joe) Galinneau, and Noah Potter; sister, Margarita Araiza De Romero, sister in law Rosemary (Tom) Kooi, cousins; Paul Ramones, Sue Ramones, Sandie (Gay) Boley;
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald Potter; son, John Potter; grandchildren, Sonjia Ellis, Brenda Rundquist, Brandy Hillsburg, Michael Williams and Jedidiah Pikaart; twin brother, Carlos (Sumiko) Araiza; brother, Rupert Araiza; sons-in-law, John Lau, and Billy Maddux; brothers and sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Kenny) Burdick, Lloyd (Jessie) Potter, Gloria (Paul) Wert, Charles (Darlene) Potter; aunts and uncles, Dolores (Raul) Ramones, cousins; Judith (Alfonso) Guerrero, Clementina Ramones, Maria Belen (Miguel) Quintero and John Ramones .
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Bridge Bible North Campus, or as many remember the former Dalton Baptist Church 3776 Holton Road Muskegon. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the start of the service at the church. A luncheon will follow at the church.
