

Darlene was born on October 10, 1938, in Muskegon to Wesley and Betty (Johnson) VandeLeest, who provided her with a loving foundation. Growing up in Muskegon, she attended Muskegon High School, where she likely formed many cherished memories. After dedicating a significant part of her life to her work at Seal Power/SPX, she eventually retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. Her journey reflects the values of resilience and dedication that so many admire.
In her retirement, Darlene discovered a profound sense of joy in the time spent with her beloved grandchildren, who truly were the shining lights of her life. Her passion for puzzles brought her not only happiness but also wonderful memories as she worked on them alongside family and friends, especially those little ones. She found solace in the pages of a good book and treasured those quiet moments of reflection, appreciating the peacefulness they brought to her life.
She is survived by her children: Randy (Sandy) Narowitz, Kandy Klimek, and Dan (Christina) Narowitz. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Heather Klimek, Stephanie (Erik) Alm, Steven (Kathryn) Narowitz, J.D. Klimek, Mikki Hecko, Daniel (Jenna) Narowitz, and Kyle Kupris. Her great-grandchildren include Robert Gardner, Kaydy Alm, Joel Klimek, Dax Alm, and Kylee Belcourt. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Larry (Terry) VandeLeest, and many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Betty VandeLeest; her brother, Garry VandeLeest; and her beloved granddaughter, Kelly Narowitz.
A heartfelt celebration of Darlene’s remarkable life is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2025. The event will take place at Ever Rest Funeral Home, located at 1783 E. Keating Avenue in Muskegon, Michigan.
Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, providing an opportunity to share memories and honor Darlene's legacy. Following the visitation, a meaningful service will commence at 4:00 PM, allowing loved ones to come together in remembrance and reflection.
