Donald was born on March 11, 1944, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Milo Hutchinson and Hazel (Lobdell) Hutchinson. A lifelong resident of Muskegon, Donald loved his hometown deeply and built his life there, surrounded by family, friends, and the community he cherished.
In 1986, Donald's life took a beautiful turn when he met the love of his life, Charlene Powles, on New Year’s Eve in 1988. This chance encounter marked the beginning of a new year filled with hope and joy as they started their journey together, creating countless cherished memories and adventures. A devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend, Donald exemplified generosity and had an unwavering protective spirit. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, selflessly giving whatever he could to those in need. At the same time, he possessed a steadfast courage to stand up for his loved ones, ensuring that they always felt safe and supported. His compassion and commitment to family truly defined his character, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Donald cherished simple pleasures like long drives with his family, ice cream cakes, and sugar cookies — particularly the special ones lovingly baked by Susan during Thanksgiving and Christmas. His warm presence, quick wit, and unwavering love for his family will inspire all who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlene Hutchinson; his children, Susan (Pete) Howe-Sprank, David Anderson, Robert Curtis, Rebecca (Bill) Boss, and Darnell (Kim) Hutchinson; and his nephew, Nick Hutchinson, his grandchildren, Mason Deardorff, Kayanna Deardorff, Austin Anderson, Justin Lohuis, Jacob Wright, and Jordan Hutchinson.
Donald is now reunited in peace with his parents, Milo and Hazel; his brother, Charles Hutchinson; and his sister, Cathy Hutchinson.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Trinity Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
