Donna M. Buquet

Donna Mae Buquet, age 94, left this world for a better place on January 30, 2021. She was born August 23, 1926 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Abraham and Johanna (Huyser) Evertse and was fifth in the family (all now deceased.) She married Gerritt W. Buquet on September 2, 1948 who left this world on March 5, 2001. They lived in Whitehall, Michigan for nine years before moving to North Muskegon in 1963.

Donna retired from Thill Oil Company as a credit manager in 1981, and she and Gerritt enjoyed nearly twenty-five happy winters at the Silver Dollar Golf and Trap Club in Odessa, Florida. She was a member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church since 1963 where she sang in the choir and Ladies Trio. Donna was active in the Ladies Guild and Circle meetings, enjoyed playing golf, bowling, knitting, reading, and watching Detroit Tigers on television. She was a member of the Northside Seniors, enjoying eating and playing bingo with friends. She also belonged to Widows Together where eating out at various restaurants and going on bus trips was a fun time.

Surviving her are five daughters: Marcia (Henry) Wynsma, Cheryl (Patrick) Akin, Brenda (Philip) Chilcote, Debra (Gregory) Wilkinson, and Cynthia Buquet; thirteen grandchildren: Shaine Wynsma, Scott (Melissa) Wynsma, Stacie Wynsma, Sara Wynsma, Sonya (Ben) Hardin, Jeremy Larson, Timothy (Colby) Chilcote, Amanda (Chris) Bauder, Theresa (Nate) VanWyck, Catherine (Tom) O’Brien, Gregory (Taylor) Wilkinson, Andrew (Katie) Fogg, and Samantha Fogg; thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Immediate cremation with no services was requested. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Muskegon City Rescue Mission.
